Join the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce for the 2026 Annual Diversity Power Luncheon, an afternoon centered on service, leadership, understanding and the power of bringing people together.
This year's program will highlight the experiences of veterans and military families while exploring how businesses and community leaders can build stronger connections with those who have served our nation.

Aaron Harper
Human Resources Business Partner, Novant Health
This year's program, “Together, We Stand,” will feature Marine Corps Sergeant and combat veteran Aaron Harper, Human Resources Business Partner with Novant Health.
A fifth-generation United States Marine, Harper leads Novant Health's Military & Veterans Affairs strategy and brings both personal experience and professional expertise to his advocacy for veterans, active-duty service members and military families.
Experience On and Off the Battlefield
During his Marine Corps career, Harper served in a number of leadership roles, including air traffic controller, tower supervisor, training leader and Marine Corps hand-to-hand combat instructor.
His continued service and veteran advocacy have earned recognition from organizations throughout the region and reflect a career devoted to leadership, service and helping others succeed.
Veterans and military families bring tremendous leadership, skills, experience and perspective to the business community. This program is designed to help employers and community leaders better understand, connect with and engage that talent.

The program will explore how the Lake Norman business community can better recognize and connect with veterans, active-duty service members and military families while gaining a deeper understanding of the experiences and perspectives they bring to our workforce and community.

A highlight of the luncheon will be the presentation of the Chamber's 2026 Diversity Champion Award to Dan and Melanie Houston, recognizing their commitment to bringing people together and strengthening the Lake Norman community.
Dan served for several years as Chair of the Lake Norman Chamber Diversity Council, helping advance programs focused on inclusion, leadership, understanding and opportunities throughout the business community. Dan and Melanie have consistently championed meaningful conversations built on respect, understanding and common ground.

Established in 2008, the Lake Norman Chamber Diversity Council works to foster an inclusive and welcoming community while supporting businesses and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Its programming encourages community engagement and meaningful conversations while helping strengthen relationships throughout the Lake Norman region.
